The Pocket Camera

PhotographyApril 2035

Small observations gathered with a camera that was always close at hand.

Artist note

I bought a remarkably small camera that I could carry in my backpack wherever I went. Sometimes, I would take it out to record the things around me: the walk home from work, illuminated by streetlights; branches moving gently in the breeze; or the fields I walked through with my grandmother on the way home.

Compared to a phone, the camera feels more deliberate. Every time I press the shutter, I hope that what I’ve captured might become something worth printing.
